It was for the ANIMALS!

So we did our first race ever! We did it to motivate ourselves to get in shape for this summer and to our surprise we had a blast! Who knew? We baby stepped our way into racing by doing a 5k. We didn't finish first but we were not the last but the important thing is we stuck together. Glad to say Stephanie and I cruised through the finished line hand in hand supporting eachother. Hey, we did it for the animals! So our time was 38:43.6 seconds. That is 12:28 per mile. Steph is running again in St. Louis next weekend for the race for the cure and is committed to getting her time under 35 minutes. Then we will hopefully race again on the fourth of July where we will both set our own paces and greatly improve our times. But for our first race we were glad we were together every step of the way!
P.S. Way to go Michelle on your half marathon today. We looked up your time after we looked at ours and wow we must say you are an inspiration.
P.S.S. Do any of you other runners have some advice?

Yea!!!! for you guys. I can't wait to get back into running. Three things: you did it together, you did it for a good cause, and you did it for yourselves. You guys are awesome.

Holy cow! Race, race, race in your future! You guys must have ENJOYED running today. My run KILLED me; I was hurting about 75% of the time. I guess I'm not as young as I used to be... ha ha.
I'm surprised you were impressed with my time. Did you see that out of 1260 people I came in 1036?! Only 200 people were slower than me, and they were probably all WALKING! Oh well. I've accomplished it so I don't have to do it again. However, I should admit, that I enjoy 5K runs- very manageable.
I love the picture of you guys at the finish line. We didn't get any pictures at ours.

By the way... animals are such a worthy cause! My race just sucked up our money without a cause.

I wish i could do Race for the Cure this year. My mom and I would do it every year to support her and the friends she'd made that had breast cancer too. It's so inspiring to see all those women and their husbands, kids, friends, mothers, grandmothers out there too. It's for the greatest cause!

Yay for running! I wanted to do the Big Sur Half Marathon this year but it didn't work out with my schedule and hubby's schedule! As for advice, I just try to get in at least 4 days of good cardio plus our weekend hike (which we've been slacking on). I also add in some circuit training on weights twice a week(c;
