Wow. Times flies. Seriously, I can't even believe that my baby is a whole year old. Lucy is such a wonderful little girl. She has these bright brown eyes that charm everyone who sees her. She has a (mostly toothless) smile that warms the heart and we just feel so lucky that she is ours.
All about 1 year old Lucy:
She is an expert crawler and is getting faster everyday. She is a profressional sippy cup drinker. She has conquered the stairs and loves it when we have "stair practice". She scoots along the furniture and she can stand for a few seconds on her own until she realizes that she's doing that and she goes down slowly. She goes in and out of favorite foods; Goldfish crackers and nilla wafers are just fads for her. Oatmeal and yogurt are staples of her life. She is right on her growth schedule (she is in size 12-18 months clothes). She loves to play with balls, but especially small ones that fit into her hand. She loves books and knows how to turn the page. She can wave hi and bye bye. She can sign "more" and "all done" (we are working on please and thank you) She can shake her head "no". She is an absolute doll.
Here are some pictures from her actual birthday and her birthday party. On her birthday we went to the Dr. to find out that Lucy is going to have a little sister. Lucy got to ride front facing in her carseat and we didn't her a single complaint out of her. She loves to face forward in the car. She got her first tooth the week of her birthday and so she was a bit crabby and feverish even later in the day on her birthday. The first time we tried to open presents she was just ready for a nap. We layed her down for a few minutes and then got her up and fed her some dinner. With a full tummy the second attempt to open presents was MUCH more successful.
For her party, we had a little over 20 kids there plus parents. It was rubber ducky themed. I wanted a princess theme, but Jon told me that we should do that when she actually cares about princesses. Right now, the only toy that she really has showed a consistant interest in is her bathtime rubber duckies. When we put her in the tub she says "Dddduuuc" which translated means "duck". She says it in a different way than other "dadada" babbles. She looks at it and says "Dddduuuc" and then smiles. Anyway at her party we played pin the beak on the duck and Jon and I made her some duck cakes. I think she had a great time.
This was Lucy's first attempt at opening presents. She wasn't having it.
Yup I would say she's got it now!
Lucy SO happy that she can face forward in the car!
This was the aftermath of cake for breakfast the day after her birthday. Grandma didn't get to see it so we re-created the whole cake thing.

Steph, you guys are so cute!! I can't believe that she is already one!! That is so crazy how fast time flies! Sounds like life is going well for you..i'm so glad!
She is so cute. I love the picture in her car seat. Facing forward is wonderful! We were thrilled when Daphne turned 1 so she could watch the DVD player with Dayton.
those cookies were SO yummy : ) Your family is so cute - my kids had a blast and have been talking about "baby Lucy" ever since the party (and all the toys too of course). Great job on the party!
she is so sweet! I just want to snuggle her!!
Believe it or not, the party table was for a RS activity. It was for the RS Birthday a few weeks ago. Our sisters separated age ranges for birthdays (first birthday, 3-8, sweet 16, 30,50, etc), and each table was decorated as a party idea for a different age range. Pretty clever!
Congrats on the baby girl! Lucy will be a such a good big sister... she helps with the laundry and everything! Seriously, Lucy is SO STINKIN' ADORABLE! I love her face! Gabe is just starting with the finger foods, so I'm sure it's only a matter of time before Goldfish become a staple in our house:) And let's face it... I love me some Goldfish too!
